The Green & Stone Summer Exhibition 2026: £20,000 in Prizes & a Fully Funded Solo Show – Deadline 3 June

For nearly a century, Green & Stone has been a cornerstone of the Chelsea art scene. Now, as the legendary art shop approaches its 100-year anniversary, The Gallery at Green & Stone is launching its biggest Summer Exhibition yet—and the call for entries closes on 3 June 2026.

If you are an emerging artist looking for a genuine career launchpad, this is the opportunity. With over £20,000 in prizes—including a fully funded solo show worth £10,000—this year’s exhibition is not merely a group show. It is a springboard.

A Century of Craftsmanship, a Future for Talent

As Green & Stone nears its centenary, the 2026 Summer Exhibition places a renewed emphasis on materiality, craftsmanship, and the enduring relationship between artist and medium. This is not a digital-first competition; it is a celebration of the physical object, the tool, and the hand that guides it.

Since opening The Gallery in 2018, the exhibition has launched the careers of numerous artists. Previous winners and participants—including Nneka Uzoigwe, Michael Slusakowicz, and Tushar Sabale—have gone on to achieve significant recognition. As Gallery Director Hester Baldwin puts it:

“We take pride in being many artists’ first rung on the ladder of success. Our ambition is to create a space that will become a primary resource for artists, collectors, curators and the broader artistic community.”

What Makes This Exhibition Different?

Unlike many open calls that prioritise a single aesthetic, the Green & Stone Summer Exhibition is judged blindly by a guest selection panel that changes annually. The panel sees only the quality of the work—not the name, CV, or gallery affiliation. This ensures variety, diversity, and genuine merit.

Selected artists will:

• Show and sell work in the heart of Chelsea, London, at 251 Fulham Road.

• Be featured in a lively Private View attended by curators, collectors, and art lovers.

• Gain online visibility alongside the physical exhibition.

• Compete for prizes worth over £20,000.

The 2026 Prize Fund (Still Growing)

More prizes will be announced during the submission period, but the current lineup is already extraordinary:

• The Green & Stone Award – A fully funded solo show (worth £10,000) for the artist who exhibits a natural feeling for their medium and its aesthetic potential.

• The De Laszlo Foundation Young Artist Award – £3,000 cash for an artist aged 30 or under.

• The De Laszlo Foundation Surrealist Award – £3,000 cash for the best surrealist-inspired artwork.

• The Gallery’s Choice Award – £500 Green & Stone voucher.

• The People’s Choice Award – £500 Green & Stone voucher.

• The Michael Harding Oil Painting Award – Judged by the panel.

• The Schmincke Award for Watercolour – Judged by the panel.

• The Sennelier Award for Pastel – Judged by the panel.

• De Laszlo Foundation Highly Commended Awards – Two awards of £500 each (Young Artist & Surrealist categories).

Who Can Enter?

Anyone. The competition is open to artists, designers and makers, amateur or professional, from anywhere in the world, aged 18 and over.

• 2D or 3D works are accepted.

• All mediums welcome – painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, photography, print, textile.

• Works must be made in the last three years, available for sale from 27 July – 1 October 2026, and not previously exhibited in London.

• Maximum dimensions: 100cm x 100cm.

Entry Fees

• £20 per artwork (max 3 submissions).

• £15 per artwork for young artists aged 30 or under on 3 June 2026.

Critical: Framing Requirements

Green & Stone enforces strict framing guidelines to ensure a professional, cohesive hang. These are non-negotiable:

• Frames must be neutral: Black, White, or Natural Wood only.

• No ornate, coloured, or metallic frames.

• Mounts (mats): White or Off-White only.

• Floating frames are acceptable for oil paintings (neutral colours only).

• AG70 glass strongly recommended to avoid glare.

• No cheap plastic frames.

If your work is not yet framed, you must provide an example image of another work framed similarly, plus a reference image showing your intended framing approach.

The guest selection panel changes annually. This year’s jury includes:

• Amy Dury – Contemporary Figurative Artist

• Rachel Parker – Co-Founder, Society of Women Artists

• Nelda Sale – Producer, Sky Portrait Artist of the Year

Important: Delivery & Collection

Works must be delivered in person to The Gallery at Green & Stone, 251 Fulham Road, London SW3 6HY, on the specified July dates.

You must be available to collect unsold work on 24–25 August 2026. These are the only collection days. Any uncollected work will be removed and stored by an independent courier at the artist’s expense. After one month, Green & Stone reserves the right to destroy, sell or dispose of unclaimed works.

If you pay for an entry and later realise you cannot make these collection dates, you will not receive a refund. Plan accordingly.

You may edit your entry at any time up to the deadline of 12 noon (BST) on 3 June 2026.
